Nike Strikes Again

Once again the coming of a new football season is marked by the Virginia Tech football team being outfitted with new uniforms. They aren't quite Oregon ugly, but they are pretty rough. I think that by the time the season rolls around I'll have warmed up to them. The worst part about it for me is the almost West Virginia style new wave number font we've got now. Honestly Nike, quit tinkering. Use Oregon as your guinea pigs, not us. Thanks.

Still, what is it going to take for teams to stand up to Nike? Allowing them to "update" and "modernize" uniforms nearly every year just takes teams further and further away from their tradition.

Adidas seems to have a better grip on the situation (http://3rdsaturdayinblogtober.wordpress.com/2008/07/17/3sib-exclusive-new-tennessee-vols-road-uniforms/) but I guess you can't discount the atrocities on the Michigan unis (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/football/ncaa/07/14/michigan.uniforms.ap/index.html). What's with the yellow stripes on the back?
