MUTEMATH Is Cool
Thanks for this find go out to the man who makes most of my demos into good songs, Luke Sweet.
Mutemath (often written in all caps) formed in 2003 in New Orleans, LA. The group consists of lead vocalist and keyboardist Paul Meany, Darren King on drums, Todd Gummerman on guitar, and bassist Roy Mitchell-Cárdenas.
I was most impressed with the band's music videos which are visually appealing and in some cases technically challenging.
The first video is for the song "Spotlight", the first single off their 2009 album Armistice. It was also unfortunately featured on one of the Twilight soundtracks, but despite being associated with that garbage dump of a movie franchise it's still a cool song and very cool video.
The second video was actually their first ever and is the most technically impressive as the band had to learn the song "Typical" backwards. It took the group three weeks to accomplish that feat and the result is really cool.
